Sigma Alpha Iota was founded at the University of Michigan School of Music on June 12th, 1903. The mission of the organization is to encourage, nurture and support the art of music.
The Sarasota-Manatee Alumnae chapter was installed by Patricia Stenberg at the home of Margaret Maxwell on October 28th, 1978. The chapter meets monthly from September to May for educational programs, musicals, luncheons and other fraternity activities. Each year the chapter organizes the Patricia Stenberg Memorial Concert in order to raise funds for local music education programs.
