Lambda A Province January 2011 Alice Moerk, President Francesca Veglia-Dansky, Editor
LETTERS
From the President: January 17, 2011
Dear Sisters:
How sad we are to lose our sister, Mary Jett. She appeared to be fully re-covered from her illness; it was a sudden and peaceful passing. Many of us gathered at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bradenton for the funeral mass. Thanks to Estelle Schultz for working with me on the music.
We next have a formal business meeting at Estelle's home and will share in the music of Halide Smith. Please note the change of time; the meeting is now scheduled for 2:30.
March is the Stenberg concert: Sunday, March 6, at Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church in Sarasota, near the airport. We've arranged for Musica Sacra Cantorum to present the second part of the program. One of our new members, flautist Amanda Lyon, and the Daige-Roseboom Trio, which performed so splendidly last year, will present the first half of the concert. It should be a memorable program, so advertise the event and sell your tickets! Remember, this is our benefit concert to help subsidize area musical organizations. It you've not yet received your tickets, pick them up at the next meeting or contact Sue Byerly at [email protected].
A reminder that Province Day is scheduled for February 4 & 5 at Rollins College. Several members are planning to attend -- some just for the day. If you're interested, contact Kathleen Crane at [email protected]. Please note Kathleen's address change for your directories.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at Halide's program on Feb. 12 -- 2:30 -- remember the time change!
Roses to all,
Alice
From the Editor’s Desk:
Important news! The officers met at my house we agreed that the newsletter needed to be less repetitive so that a monthly newsletter could be sent in to Nationals and out to non digital members. I will make the website a little more solid. Because this format is so fluid, all information will still be updated as soon as I receive it. You may still find some new information posted weekly, but I will run a hard copy at the end of each month now and save it as an archival page to the website. If you look under the 'more' section at the top of the page, you will find last months newsletter saved. Apparently, we have to have something solid to send to National. If anyone has printed off a copy of what was sent out from August to October, could you send a copy of that to Alice. I will be adding the new District and National officers email addresses to my list so that they will get the email when the newsletter is ready. In any event, I suggest that you continue to check this once a week to see what is new. If the dates or times of an event change I will also try to highlight those so you will know what to change in your calendars.
Please look at the new contact page also, there will be a form that you can enter your name and email address. There is also a section for comments, please use that to send me home address changes that I can forward to Susan Byerly, and ideas that you might have for next years' programs, I can forward those to Carole. You may also want to use the comments section to give me information that you would like to share on this webpage.
Love and Roses, Francesca Veglia (as of Jan 13th)
P.S. It is that time of year when we are looking for fresh blood. No it isn't a blood drive or a teenage vampire show! However, if you would like to serve your SAI chapter, think of contacting an officer and get your name into the nominating commitee. I am looking for a someone else who is not planning on moving in the next year or so to take over this position. I could train you for then next few months, and then you could take it over next year. Think about it!
