From the President:
August 18, 2015
Dear Sisters,
I'm sorry to inform you that our Friend of the Arts, Arden Fowler passed away July 1st. A memorial service will be held for her and her late husband on November 7 at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Rd. Longboat Key. She was one of the founding directors of "Gloria Musicae". The musical community in our area will truly miss her.
I have cleaned out boxes from the presidents file and I am missing two Pat Stenberg concert programs. They are 2009 and 2010 program. I can make a copy and get it back to you if you have one of these. Please call me first so I don't receive several copies. 941-752-1814
Francesca is working hard at setting our programs for next year. If you would like to host or perform please contact her ASAP. Our first meeting will be either September 12 or 19th.
Hope you had a wonderful summer and looking forward to seeing you in September.
Carole Luzio

Convention Spotlight (this is the same as the email message)
Excitement is building -- we are only 7 weeks away from the SAI Triennial National Convention in St. Louis to be held at the Historic Union Train Station Hotel, July 23-27. Be sure to reserve your hotel rooms and register through the SAI website.
More Than 30 Workshops!
You won't want to miss "The Ladies of Lyric and Song: Female Composers and Lyricists of the American Musical Theatre" to be presented by Erin Guinup of the Tacoma Alumnae Chapter. This unique theatrical program combines elements of lecture and recital into a fast-paced presentation that traces the history of musical theatre through the trailblazing women who have written music and lyrics.
Directed by and co-written with Tony-award nominee Patti Cohenour (Big River, Mystery of Edwin Drood, Phantom of the Opera), soprano Erin Guinup takes a musical journey through 100 years of musical theatre history and performs 26 songs while sharing fascinating stories that illuminate some of the challenges these female composers and lyricists faced. These songs reflect the styles of their time and include operetta, jazz, golden era, folk rock, and contemporary cabaret.
See a preview on YouTube.
A Different Kind of SAI Strings
